Interplanetary Shock (or CME Arrival)
Catalog: M2M_CATALOG
Location: Earth
Event Time: 2026-09-06T17:38Z ( SOLAR-1: MAG )
All Detecting Spacecrafts:
SOLAR-1: MAG
ACE: SWEPAM
ACE: MAG
SOLAR-1: SWiPS
IMAP: MAG
IMAP: SWAPI
Activity ID: 2026-09-06T17:38:00-IPS-001 (version 4)
Quality of ICME Signature: 1 (lacks some signatures)
Note: Characterized by an amplification of magnetic field components with Btotal increasing from around 6nT at 2026-09-06T17:38Z to 11.3nT at 2026-09-07T04:21Z. An increase in density is observed alongside the amplification of magnetic field components, with density increasing from ~4 p/cc at 2026-09-06T17:31Z to ~13 p/cc at 2026-09-07T04:44Z. Speed remains steady around 330 km/s and 360 km/s, and temperature slowly decreases throughout the structure. This interplanetary shock is likely associated with the arrival of CME: 2026-09-02T10:24Z. This is followed by a second separate arrival structure beginning at 2026-09-07T06:07Z. Following examination of additional solar wind data, the start time has been updated from 2026-09-06T20:40Z to 2026-09-06T17:38Z.
